Description
The Sonata is a true standout among traveling wheels!
It combines the beauty and
craftsmanship of Old World design with the convenience and portability
of a modern wheel. Although built for travel, it features an impressive
19.5″ wheel—much larger than the typical sub-15″ diameter found on most
travel wheels. It also boasts the tallest orifice height in its class,
adjustable up to 33″.
The Sonata sets up in three minutes
or less after being unpacked from its included, durable, heavily padded
backpack. When folded for transport, it measures a compact 22″ tall,
19.5″ wide, and 7″ deep. And with a combined wheel-and-bag weight of
under 16 pounds, carrying it is almost effortless.
Its versatility increases even
further with the optional Jumbo Flyer Kit. This upgrade expands spinning
possibilities in two key ways: the larger orifice accommodates
everything from lace-weight yarns to super bulky art yarns, and the
jumbo bobbin doubles capacity—from just over 4 oz. to a full
half-pound—allowing for longer, continuous drafting and skeins with
greater yardage.

Crafted from highly sustainable Alder wood, the
Sonata spinning wheel is a testament to mindful craftsmanship. To
minimise our carbon footprint and champion our local community, we
source all our timber from farms within 50km of our workshop.
Alder is celebrated for its warm
palette—ranging from light tan to deep reddish-brown—and its smooth,
uniform texture. As we work with a living, organic material, no two
pieces are ever identical.
Embracing Nature: Customers
should anticipate that Unfinished (U) or Finished (F) products may have
darker areas or flecks of deep reddish-brown. These are not flaws or
weaknesses, but natural occurrences typical in wood. We believe these
variations bring out the true, organic beauty of the wood, making every
Kromski product unique.
