Majacraft Luna Spinning Wheel

The Majacraft Luna is the latest addition to the Majacraft range of quality, hand-built spinning wheels. Luna has a unique inline design that offers you a beautifully stable spinning experience, with a smooth treadling action that is light and responsive. This is a scotch tension wheel, particularly suited to spinning traditional yarns from lace to bulky. It comes standard with a round orifice flyer and four standard black Majacraft bobbins. Like all Majacraft wheels, most Majacraft accessories can be used with Luna, including the different pulley(whorl) sizes, the larger jumbo bobbins, all the flyers from large through to small ie. lace and plying flyer, the small lace kit and bobbins, the Stylus, and the Aura flyer. Accessories that won't fit the Luna are the High Speed Head and the Overdrive Head.
Luna is hand-built using sustainable bamboo, and is uniquely designed to make the most of the lovely grain. This is a hard wearing wood, and combined with the quality parts Majacraft wheels are known for, we are confident Luna will last a lifetime.
The folks at Majacraft have worked hard to create a distinctively unique wheel that will provide a very smooth and pleasurable spinning experience for beginners right through to advanced spinners. Luna will grow with you and adapt to many spinning styles with grace and ease.
The Luna orifice height is halfway between the Gem and the Aura. However, your hand height while spinning will still be the same height and position as when spinning on the other standard-sized Majacraft wheels, due to the angle of the flyer shaft.
The actual orifice height, measured from the fine flyer round orifice is 690mm from the floor. FYI it is 730mm on the Aura and 640mm on the Gem.
Specs:
Luna comes standard with four of our lightweight black plastic molded
4oz(+) bobbins. It is fitted with a five groove pulley which gives you
ratios ranging from 6:1 to 14:1. It comes equipped with a lovely fine
flyer with the smooth round ceramic orifice – ideal for spinning
traditional yarns. The orifice height, measured from the fine flyer
orifice is 690mm from the floor. For comparison, the Aura orifice height
is 730mm, and the Gem is 640mm, however, Luna is designed in such a way
that if you place your hands in your normal spinning position, the
orifice will be pointing directly toward them.
Luna weighs in at 7 kilos (15.4 pounds), enough to add stability yet
still easy to pick up and move around as needed. One of the coolest
things is that Luna arrives to you in the box, fully constructed, all
you have to do is add the drive bands!
