TENCEL Combed Top
Tencel is the trade name for the
generic fiber Lyocel©
Lyocel© is a wood pulp product. The
wool/cellulose blends are produced to enhance both fibers properties.
Viscose type fibers blended with wool have the look and feel of
wool/silk products.
The wool/cellulose products have the advantage of
being less expensive than the silk blends.
Tencel is a very beautiful, shimmery fiber. It is skin soft and very
lustrous. It has a distinct look once it's dyed. It is one of the only
viscose products on the market (in addition to our rose fiber, pearl
fiber, and new mint fiber) that is made in a truly eco-friendly way,
using a closed-loop system which recycles the solvents used in its
production.
This Tencel comes from the pulp of the eucalyptus trees and is grown on
sustainably run farms certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Eucalyptus trees produce a very high yield of cellulose per acre and
give the best quality fiber with the least amount of waste. The process
used to make Tencel is designed to be as efficient as possible, and uses
non-toxic chemicals and solvents during processing. In addition, Tencel
is a high-tenacity cellulose fiber, which gives strength and shine to
yarn and fiber blends. Tencel gives you the look and feel of silk
without the cost of silk. It is also considered a vegan product.
