For those who need a larger production rate (4:1 carding ratio), the Double-Wide 200x2 series is available.

The large drum on the 200x2 series double wide models is 15" wide with the same 7" diameter as the standard carder and produces a batt appromimately 14" x 22" long. Overall dimensions are 19.5" wide x 24" long. The frame is 4" high. This carder is meant to be used at the edge of the work surface to allow turning of the crank handle (the 405 series has a taller frame allowing the carder to be used anywhere on the work surface). This model also has a pulley attached to the end of the shaft so that the carder can be motorized by the end user.

There are three styles of card cloth available for the carding drum. All cloth uses 3/8" long plated steel wire in a tough rubberized cloth backing.

Model 502 regular - 72 teeth (or points) per square inch on the large drum -"Slicker-Licker" on the small drum. Can be used successfully for coarse to middle range fiber such as Cheviot and Romney as well as adult Mohair. Useful for long fibers such as Border Leicester to get a deep batt. NOT recommended for finer fibers. This is a favorite drum among felters who plan never to card fine fibers.

Model 503 - 98 teeth (or points) per square inch on the large drum -"Slicker-Licker" on the small drum. For most fibers. Again, NOT recommended for fine fibers.

Model 505 - Extra Fine 128 teeth (or points) per square inch on the large drum -"Slicker-Licker" on the small drum. For all fibers, especially the very fine varieties. With care, can be used with Merino, Llama, Alpaca, Cashmere blend, Dog hair and other exotics. We recommend this card along with the optional Brush Attachment as the most versatile combination available.

Special tools included with each 200x2 series double wide drum carder are:

The popular knuckle-saving-batt-picker (an invaluable tool for removing the batt without damage to the equipment or the user). A doffer/cleaner brush (to thoroughly clean any residual fibers from the carding drum). A small cleaner/dabber brush (for use on the licker drum).

An Optional double wide brush attachment (BA-5) is available as is a "teasing tool" (5.5" x 4.5" pad, with clamp) used to open locks and tease fiber prior to carding.
