DVD: Beginning Four Harness Weaving,by Deborah Chandler. A four-harness loom, from the smallest table model to the largest floor model, offers many weaving possibilities. This course will introduce you to several styles of these looms. This DVD starts with winding a warp on a warping board and warping from front to back. Next comes reading a weaving draft (pattern), basic loom tie- up, then on to how to weave a number of different weave structures from the pattern drafts provided. Plain weave, basket weave, rib weave (with one and two colors), several twill combinations, and the basics of doubleweave are explored here. 86 minutes. DVD Prerequisites: If you have never woven before, the video or DVD Introduction to Weaving is a prerequisite. If you understand how to calculate warp and weft quantities, there are no further prerequisites. Materials Needed: A four harness loom (any kind) and a 12 or 6 dent reed. You will need two colors of yarn, four ounces each, as well as scissors, heavy paper, a ruler, and a shuttle. A warping board is handy, but not absolutely necessary. A detailed supply list is included along with a weaving draft for the project. |
