Louet S-10 DT Double Treadle Spinning Wheel Kit

All Louët spinning wheel models technically work the same (except the Victoria and the Julia). The wheels have a single belt bobbin drive with an adjustable flyer brake to regulate the tension. The fact that it is easy to learn to spin on Louet wheels, proves their functional quality. The orifice on the standard wheel is sufficiently large - about a half inch (13mm) as are the bobbins with 5-7 ounce (150-200 gram) capacity. With one exception, all wheels come equipped with a two bobbin lazy kate/bobbin storage rack. The flexible drive belts are made of polyurethane and never have to be adjusted. All bobbins (3 bobbins are supplied with the S10-DT) have a sheave with three settings (the drive ratios) on one side that can be used to obtain three spinning speeds (ratios) with the 20" (50cm) drive (fly) wheel. The ratios are 1:5.5 for slow spinning and heavy yarn, 1:7.5 for medium yarn and 1:10.5 for fast spinning and fine yarn. All wheels run on maintenance free ball bearings in the main wheel hub and at the footman connection. No lubrication is required. The spinning wheels are disassembled to the extent that they can be packed flat and shipped economically. The assembly consists of tightening two nuts and installing a couple of screws, for which tools and instructions are included. Weight is approximately 18 lb.
