The main frame of this wheel is made from thin laminated layers of Eastern hard rock maple (about 18 layers!) and a single layer of American black walnut. This is a modern, well balanced, very versatile wheel with optional ratios all the way from a super slow 4:1 (for beginners & this loose plying) to an exceptionally fast ratio of 27.5:1 (for lace type spinning).
